Who are the strongest characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
- The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has both human and superhuman characters with individual strengths.
- The more famous names are only sometimes the strongest.
- Cosmic beings such as the Eternals and even anti-heroes like Thanos and Dormmamu top the list of strong characters in the MCU.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) boasts several incredible characters with various superpowers. Some are mortals, whereas others belong to galaxies eons away from us.
While all of them are strong in their ways, some are stronger than others. Here is a brief list of some of the strongest characters from the MCU.
Eternals are one of the most powerful beings in the MCU[edit]
The Eternals are a squad of ancient warriors. Individually, each of them has impressive superpowers, such as superhuman strength, immortality, the ability to make illusions, control matter, and fire blasts of energy.
Ikaris and Sersi have the most powerful positions among the Eternals. In the MCU, Sersi, whose superpower of matter manipulation surpasses even that of the Scarlet Witch, and Ikaris can take on the Deviants by themselves.
At the same time, the rest of the characters must work in tandem to fight them.[1]
Thanos is part deviant, and hence he can handle the infinity stones together[edit]
Thanos was born on Titan, the moon of Saturn, to the Eternals' Mentor and Sui-San. Thanos carries the gene for deviants and shares their physical appearance.

Thanos became enthralled with Mistress Death as he grew older and slaughtered his family for her. He was also capable of enhancing his inherent strength and abilities by mystical and artificial means, allowing him to surpass even the mightiest Eternals.
Thanos's superhuman power is without known limitations. With the ferocity of his strikes, he has obliterated universes in one of the timelines.[2]
Surtur is powerful enough to defeat and destroy Asgard by himself[edit]
Surtur is an immortal being from the extradimensional world of Muspelheim. He is the deadly adversary of Odin and Thor.
Surtur also plays a big part in Ragnarok, a never-ending cycle in which Asgard is destroyed and rebuilt repeatedly. Surtur's destiny is to destroy Asgard with the Sword of Twilight.
Surtur is a powerful and devious fire giant with the force of a thousand burning suns, standing at over one thousand feet in height. His strength, power, speed, and durability dwarf those of even Thor, and he can wield fire and cosmic energy. His only weaknesses are sorcery and extreme cold.[3]
Odin and his Odin force are formidable among all Marvel characters[edit]
Odin rules Asgard as king and is the father of Thor and Loki. He is acknowledged as the most powerful of all Asgardian beings, including Thor.
The origins of Odin remain shrouded in obscurity. Once, he and his brothers, Vili and Ve, traveled to Surtur's territory. The brothers were in terrible peril. Vili and Ve sacrificed themselves to rescue Odin so he could flee unharmed.
Odin's divine characteristics expanded due to his brother's abilities merging with his own. Odin was so strong that he could use a power known as "Odin Force," which enabled him to defeat Galactus with a huge headbutt.
He can manipulate massive quantities of mystical energy. Odin once vanquished Thanos and the Silver Surfer simultaneously with little difficulty.
Odin was unethical conqueror eons ago, fighting conflicts across the cosmos. He conquered several kingdoms before realizing that peace was the optimal approach.[4]
Strange Supreme was single-handedly able to contain Ultron controlling all the infinity stones[edit]
This alternative version of Doctor Strange appears In the Marvel comic "What If." In the past, he assimilated many mystic creatures for millennia to increase his ability to breach an absolute point.
He was ultimately responsible for the destruction of his world. Strange Supreme also faced Infinite Ultron, who was carrying the infinity gauntlet. He succeeded in confining Ultron inside the mirror dimension.[5]
Infinity Ultron can fight The Watcher on equal footing[edit]
Infinity Ultron is an alternate form of Ultron. He could implant his consciousness into Vision's synthetic body and beat the Avengers. Ultron overcomes Thanos with ease and destroys all life in the cosmos.
He becomes aware of Uatu, The Watcher, using the infinity gauntlet. Ultimately, he battles The Watcher, a foe with comparable might levels.[6]
The Watcher is a mysterious being with unparalleled powers and the ability to observe all life across multiverse[edit]
Uatu, The Watcher, is one of the creatures that saw the multiverse from the Nexus of All Realities.
The Watcher is an infinitely powerful cosmic being. He has a vast array of tremendous, godlike powers and attributes. Ultron, armed with all of the Infinity Stones, is the only being who can equal his strength.[7]
Dormammu is a powerful entity with a mission to destroy all universes[edit]
Dormammu is a primordial inter-dimensional entity that wields apocalyptic levels of supernatural power. His goal is to destroy every universe in existence and spread darkness.
He is not an enemy that can be eliminated or defeated by brute force or strength. Doctor Strange only managed to beat Dormammu by using the time stone to trap him in a time loop for all eternity until Dormammu agreed to leave Earth alone.
The only way to win against him is to make a deal with him and hope that he keeps his word as Dr. Strange did.[8]
The Scarlet Witch is the strongest Marvel character in the earth realm[edit]
Wanda Maximoff, better known as the Scarlet Witch, remains one of the strongest human characters the MCU has flaunted. While Wanda started as a villain against the Avengers, she later switched sides, only to again go up against Dr. Strange as they dueled out across the multiverse.

With Chaos magic being her superpower, the Scarlet Witch is to be revered. It is not just her magic honed by a lifetime of practice that makes her a formidable adversary but rather her passion and willingness to protect her loved ones.
Maximoff has psionic powers that allow her to blast energy beams and demonstrate psychic abilities. She can also create force fields to act as protective barriers, but her favorite is to conjure things with her mind, such as an entirely different reality.[9]
Avengers are one of the least powerful individually, but as a team, they are feared by their foes[edit]
Lastly, this list must conclude with the mighty Avengers. They are not individually the most powerful characters of the MCU. But time and again, they have shown they can band together to defeat even the strongest villains threatening humankind.
Their humanity and compassion remain their greatest strengths.[10]
